What’s the most anticipated launch of this year, you ask? Undoubtedly, for the SUVs devotee, it would be Scorpio-N. And if they say otherwise, then they might be lying. Ever since the Scorpio nameplate debuted back in 2002, it was an instant favourite not just because of its muscular, powerful looks but also because of its style, charm, and driveability. Now fast-forward to 2022, Mahindra has finally launched the Scorpio-N for modern India. Scorpio-N is an entirely new product that is built on an all-new platform. Well, it will be sold alongside the previous-gen Scorpio. Mahindra has launched the Scorpio-N at 11.99 lakhs for the entry-level Z2 variant and goes up to 19.49 lakhs for the top-end Z8L variant. Note- these are introductory prices for the first 25,000 bookings.
Mahindra Scorpio-N: Design and Styling
Modern Muscle. Yes, that’s the word that best describes the all-new Scorpio-N. It now looks in sync with the taste of new generations, without even compromising on its boxy design language. The car has gained some proportions and is now 206mm longer and 97mm wider. Mahindra claims that the design of signature wheel arches took inspiration from the sinewy silhouette of a swimmer. Up in front, the new Mahindra logo is embossed on a front grille along with horizontal chrome strips. The dual-barrel projector headlamp setup is positioned just beside the grille. A separate C-shaped LED around a small housing of a fog lamp gives it a smarter look. Move to the sides, and you will notice all-black cladding giving the Scorpio-N a complete SUV stance. The rear looks quite clean and minimalistic, with stacked vertical taillights. The chrome strips running across the windows and the roof rails give it a commanding yet modern appeal.
Mahindra Scorpio-N: Interiors and Features
The interior of the all-new Scorpio-N looks a lot more up-market. It gets coffee-black leather upholstery, a dual-tone dashboard layout and an 8-inch touch-screen with an AdrenoX infotainment system. The AdrenoX combines 70+ apps, including Alexa, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. It also gets an exquisite 12-speaker 3D Sony sound system and a 7-inch driver instrument cluster. Mahindra has partnered with Amazon Alexa, what3words, Qualcomm, Visteon, Blackberry QNX, Bosch, Sony and Amazon Web Services (AWS) to deliver the connected SUV experience. As with the growing awareness, safety is essential, and the all-new Scorpio-N is no different. It gets up to 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, HHC, HHD, ESP, TPSM and driver drowsiness detection. Wireless charging, auto headlight, auto wipers, 6-way power driver seat, front and rear camera, front park assist sensors and dual-channel climate control are some features in top-end variants of Scorpio-N.
Mahindra Scorpio-N: Engine Options
The Scorpio-N gets two engine options- TGDi mStallion Petrol engine and mHawk Diesel engine. The 2-litre TGDi mStallion turbo-petrol engine churns out 200bhp of power and 380Nm of torque. In comparison, a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine gets 175bhp of power and ample 400N of torque. Both engines are offered in 6-speed manual and automatic transmission options along with an option of 4X4. Scorpio-N also features 4XPLOR, first-in-class intelligent terrain management technology.
