Toyota is readying its sister model to the Baleno, the new Glanza, for a launch in the coming weeks. Now, fresh images of the upcoming Toyota hatchback that seems to be in the final stages of testing have surfaced, showing the new Glanza with minimal camouflage.

Just a few days after the big and highly anticipated launch of the new Maruti Baleno, its rebadged Toyota version has been spied undisguised in Chennai. As per sources, dealer training is ongoing across India for the new 2022 Glanza. The launch is next month.

  • New Glanza to get unique front bumper design
  • To be powered by new non-hybrid 90hp, 1.2-litre four-cylinder Dual Jet VVT petrol engine with idle start/stop technology
  • Will get slightly different headlamps and tail-lamps

Engine and Performance:

As for the performance, the same 1.2-liter four-cylinder Dual Jet VVT petrol engine with idle start/stop technology will be good enough to produce 90 PS maximum power at 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm of peak torque delivered at 4,400 rpm. It will be paired with a five-speed manual transmission as standard while a five-speed AMT will be offered as an option.

Exterior:

In the pictures, we can see only the rear quarter of the premium hatchback. The 2022 Glanza would come with new alloy wheels that are diamond-cut units and measure 16-inches in size.

The badging on the tailgate was covered. The rear design is the same as the new generation Baleno. However, we are expecting that the front of the Glanza would look slightly different.

Interior and Features:

Expect little to change inside, aside from upholstery colors. The basic dashboard layout is expected to remain unchanged from the new Baleno. This means the car would feature all the design traits of the new Baleno, including the central, free-standing touchscreen, revised control surfaces, and new instrument cluster dials.

The revised Toyota Glanza will share its interior with the Baleno facelift and thus the top-end variants will be equipped with a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 360-degree camera, heads-up display, new dashboard and centre console, an updated instrument cluster, six airbags, hill hold function, electronic stability control, UV cut glass, cruise control, etc will be available.

Prices:

Toyota could follow a similar arrangement as the outgoing Glanza, with the model only available in fully-loaded and mid-spec variants. This would mean that prices start above those of the Baleno, with the fully-loaded models expected to also sit slightly higher than the Maruti.
