The Yamaha Tenere 700 is a very popular middle-weight adventure motorcycle in the international market. Now, the engineers at Yamaha have used parts from GYTR (Genuine Yamaha Technology Racing) to create a more hardcore version of the ADV, called the Tenere 700 Raid. The prototype of the new ADV has been unveiled at the EICMA 2021. Yamaha confirms that the Tenere Raid 700 is still in the testing phase, and the final production version of the off-roader is likely to debut by Q1 of 2022 in European markets.
TECHNICAL BITS
The engine internals of the Yamaha Tenere 700 have been swapped for high-grade performance and durable parts.
The Tenere 700 Raid gets a larger radiator with two-cooling fans, along with a new oil-cooler system.
The air filter box has been reworked too, and the motorcycle gets a high-performance air filter as well.
The Tenere 700 Raid features a Rekluse heavy-duty clutch, which is housed in a two-piece clutch cover.
Yamaha has also equipped the motorcycle with a more durable clutch and brake levers.
Other bits such as brake calliper mounts, suspension linkages, and triple clamps have been swapped for lighter and durable ones.
The regular bash plate has been swapped for a carbon fibre one.
The Kayaba suspension components on both ends are new and offer more travel than the suspension of the standard motorcycle.
The front suspension offers 270mm travel, while the rear one has 260mm of travel.
The braking hardware has been upgraded too. The rotor up front is 300mm in size, and the rear is relatively larger than before, at 267mm.
The system gets new racing-grade brake pads. Yamaha has also put in upgraded steel brake hoses for more effective braking.
The engine is the same as before, but the ECU, which governs the power output, has been sourced from GYTR.
The Tenere 700 Raid gets two fuel tanks, which is a welcome addition for rallies.
LAUNCH DETAILS
The Yamaha Tenere 700 Raid is likely to make its first public appearance in upcoming rallies where we can see the motorcycle in real-world action.
A road-legal version of the Tenere 700 Raid is likely to be on cards.
Yamaha will exclusively sell the motorcycle in international markets, which means it is a sad news for India enthusiasts as it will not be launched in India.
