The wait is finally over as India’s largest automaker finally reveals its facelift Baleno for the Indian market today. Before its official launch, all the speculations and leaked images have stormed on the Internet. Baleno has been an essential product in Maruti Suzuki’s portfolio since its launch in 2015. Bookings for the new Baleno have also been opened officially and deliveries are set to begin from today itself. The new Baleno will also be offered under Maruti’s subscription scheme, with monthly fees starting at Rs 13,999 (this includes vehicle registration, maintenance, insurance, and roadside assistance).

Today, the brand has taken wraps off the new generation Baleno, and here is everything you need to know about Baleno.

EXTERIOR:

Bold is the best word to describe new-age Baleno. Looks and aesthetics are the complete evolution from the outgoing model.

  • Wider honeycomb-patterned ‘NEXWave’ grille with a silver accent at its base that extends into the new wraparound headlights
  • New and more agressive headlights, redesigned and now receive a new tri-arrow LED DRL setup which will be common to all future Nexa models.
  •  New 16-inch alloy wheels.
  • Design of the clamshell bonnet appears to be a bit flatter than before,
  • Wider honeycomb-patterned ‘NEXWave’ grille with a silver accent at its base that extends into the new wraparound headlights

INTERIOR & FEATURES:

Gone are the days when the combination of beige and black shade used to rule the roost.

  • All-new, three-layered design for the dashboard, which, in the top-spec model, gets a black top, a full-width silver accent in the middle, and a dark blue finish at the bottom
  • New Baleno’s dashboard design is quite similar to the new S-Cross that is sold abroad and the upcoming new Brezza is also expected to have a similar dashboard design.
  • New steering wheel (similar to the one in the Swift)
  • New switchgear for climate control
  • New front seats dark blue theme is carried over to the door cards and seat upholstery.
  • New design for the instrument cluster design, which is again shared with the new S-Cross.

ENGINE & PERFORMANCE:

  • The 2022 Baleno gets the 1.2-litre, four-cylinder Dual Jet K12N petrol engine, which churns out around 89bhp of power and 113 Nm of torque.
  • The engine comes mated with a 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT gearbox (replacing the older model’s CVT unit).
  • As usual, efficiency has always been a unique selling point of Maruti Suzuki’s brand and sticking true to its USP.
  • ARAI claimed fuel efficiency which new Baleno ditches out is 22.35kpl in Manual transmission and 22.94kpl for the AMT version.
