Kawasaki India has launched their latest 2022 facelift of the Versys 650 in India, starting at INR 7.36 Lakhs (Ex-Showroom). This makes it INR 21,000 dearer than its predecessor’s INR 7.25 Lakh starting price. The Versys 650 is an acclaimed ADV-tourer in its segment and for the premium that you shell out for the updated version, will get you new graphics, some more features, and redesigned headlamp unit.
Design and Styling
On the design front, the changes to the new MY2022 line over its previous iteration include redesigned LED headlamp, a tastefully done accent on the rim of the wheels, redesigned graphics on the front fairing, and different material and design choices on the fuel tank to round off a fresh-looking unit. This, amongst a new colourway added for a completely Metallic Spark Black finish replacing the older panda-like Metallic Spark Black and Pearl Blizzard White duality, as well as an added Candy Lime Green colour in a colorful tango with the Metallic Spark Black.
Features and Tech
Some of the features retained from the pre-facelift model are the Long Travel Suspension and the 17″ wheels, along with the parallel-twin engine and mountable accessories support to increase storage capacity for long travels. Improving upon the previous generation, the newer facelift features LED headlamps and increased wind protection with a redesigned upper cowl taking inspiration from its higher-end counterpart: the Versys 1000. The new facelift is also packed with the new TFT color display which can be paired to smartphones through Bluetooth and USB connectivity. The newer model also sports Kawasakis KTRC (Kawasaki Traction Control) which provides not only increased traction in difficult terrain but peace of mind for the rider as well, with two modes to choose from based on preference and demand of the situation.
Specs and Performance
The new Versys is powered by a 649cc liquid-cooled, 4-stroke parallel-twin engine producing up to 65hp of power at 8,500 rpm, further producing up to 61Nm of torque. The engine is also equipped with dual-throttle valves which increase power output by optimizing the throttle through the ECU. The break set up in addition to the aforementioned ABS system is the dual 300mm disks at the front with a single 220mm disk at the rear. The suspension setup on the Versys 650 includes a Showa USD fork at the front end, with a pre-load adjustable Showa mono-shock at the rear.
